Bio of Tri-Style founder Dan Healy

How it all began

Dan Started his Martial arts journey like many in the 1980s by studying Judo at the local church hall, in his mid Teens he started boxing training at his local gym and a life long passion for Martial Arts was ignited.

Starting a Career as a Chef got in the way for a few years but Dan always made time to train and hit the Heavy Bag. A Career change in his early 20s gave him evenings free, enrolling in his Local Wing Chun school his martial Arts training really took off.

Studying for many years at UK Wing Chun Fu Association under the world renowned James Sinclair and his talented group of instructors Dan soon started training 3 or 4 times a week. A grappling Session was added to the timetable which Dan attended every week as well. The club opened a 2nd full time Gym and while studying to become a Personal trainer  Dan Started a Fitness and Conditioning class there. The new Gym also offered Mauy Thai, and BJJ classes which lead to Dan training some evening at 2 different gyms to fit in all the training.  To Improve his kicking and flexibility Dan also started training Freestyle Karate kickboxing fitting it in when he could.

Starting to teach

Starting work in Saffron Walden as a Personal Trainer incorporating a lot of Martial Arts exercises into his session, Dan caught the eye of a Lifeguard who wanted to start Kickboxing. Soon a small class started which lead to Dan teaching several Kickboxing sessions a week. It soon became feasible to open a full time Martial Arts Studio, and Dan Founded the Tri-Style Martial Arts system.

Building a  Reputation

Teaching Mixed Martial Arts, and Kickboxing the gym done well for many years, as well as Kids classes, and people who just wanted to train to learn a skill and keep fit the Gym produced more than its fair share of good fighters as well. The fighters in the tri-Style fight squad racked up wins in MMA, K1, and Full contact Kickboxing, with Ed Crace Eales winning the WFKKO European Heavy Weight K1 title and Dan Foster winning the light middle weight British Full Contact Kickboxing title. The gym had 6 fighters as part of the WFKKO Team GB for the Marial Arts world games where they won Bronze an Silver medals in K1 rules.

Bodyguard

One of Dans PT clients was the Tour manager for the well known Band the Artic Monkeys, he asked Dan if he had ever thought about taking up being a Bodyguard ( Close Protection) Dan hadn’t but went and got qualified and started a 2nd Job alongside running the gym. Dan went on Tour with the Band The Script as the head of Security for one of their European Tours, look after Kylie Minogue, Mylie Cyrus, Giggs, Noel Gallagher to name a few A list stars he has looked after over the years.

The company that owned the unit Dan leased for the gym decided unknown to Dan to sell the Units. The Club carried on but Dan decided to work in Close Protection and Surveillance full time after getting a good job offer in San Tropez for a high net worth Family. Until recently when a new opportunity arouse Dan had been working full time as a Bodyguard and Team Leader for Security teams at High profile events. All the time keeping up with his training and teaching a couple of dedicated private Students who he still trains to this day.
